NEW PROGRAMS STARTING JUNE 2008

Starting June, 2008, the American Hospitality Academy will offer the following new programs jointly with Miriam College.

ASSOCIATE IN CULINARY ARTS (ACA)

Offered in partnership with Miriam College, the Associate in Culinary Arts (ACA) is a two year program that provides students with valuable hands-on competencies in culinary arts, through the culinary modules (please refer to the modules in the Diploma in Culinary Arts program) and a strong educational foundation from the general education courses, such as English, Mathematics, History, etc. With a high school diploma as a minimum requirement for admission, graduates of the ACA program can be gainfully employed after graduation, thus allowing them the opportunity to further hone their culinary skills and competencies, and grow professionally on the job.

Under the ladderized scheme, graduates of the Associate in Culinary Arts program may continue their studies towards a BS Entrepreneurship major in Culinary Arts. All courses taken in the ACA program will be credited towards the BS Entrepreneurship degree.

BS ENTREPRENEURSHIP MAJOR IN CULINARY ARTS

This five year program offered in partnership with Miriam College provides students with hands-on competencies in culinary arts, combined with the general education courses during the first two years, and the management and entrepreneurship courses during the 3rd and 5th year. At the 4th year level, students will undertake a two month internship immersion in the food service industry, followed by a minimum of 6 months of international internship in the United States, under the SERVLEAD program of the American Hospitality Academy. SERVLEAD is the only internship program accredited by the prestigious American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH & LA), the biggest hospitality industry association in the United States.

All courses taken in the Associate in Culinary Arts program are credited towards the BS Entrepreneurship Major in Culinary Arts degree.
