About Us

AHA Philippines is the first international culinary and hospitality American School in the Philippines. It was formally inaugurated on October 22, 2006 by then US Ambassador to the Philippines Her Excellency Kristie Kenney. AHA Philippines is part of the AHA International Hotel Management Schools (AHA-IHMS) with sister schools worldwide – AHA South Africa, AHA India, AHA Nepal, AHA Romania and AHA USA.

Chef Gene Cordova
President and Managing Partner AHA Philippines

Chef Gene has the rare combination of INTERNATIONAL business education, strong culinary training and experience as Chef, and a wealth of experience as culinary educator for over 10 years now. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Fordham University in New York, USA. His strong foundation in Culinary Arts was honed in top schools in Paris, France – Le Cordon Bleu and Hotel Ritz Escoffier, after which he worked as Chef for over 10 years in various hotels in Paris and New York. In 2002, he was granted a Cochran scholarship by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), which allowed him to undergo further specialized culinary training at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, California.

Chef Gene has over 10 years of extensive and proven experience as culinary educator and school administrator.

Ms. Cindi Reiman
President, AHA USA
and AHA International Hotel and Management Schools

Cindi Reiman is the dynamic leader and visionary credited for setting up the American Hospitality Academy in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA, 25 years ago. Through her leadership , AHA has become a well recognized name in hospitality internships. For over 10 years now, AHA, as a J-1 Visa sponsor designated by the US Department of State, hosts thousands of students from different countries all over the world who undertake hospitality/culinary internship/training in various top hotels in the United States.

Ms. Reiman is the founder and president of AHA-IHMS (International Hotel Management Schools) that gave rise to AHA South Africa and AHA Nepal. She is also the founder of AHA World Campus – a trailblazing initiative in the field of hospitality education and training, which reaches out to students, faculty and industry practitioners all over the world by way of its online programs.

Dr. Corazon Gatchalian
Chair, Advisory Board

Dr. Gatchalian has over 30 years of experience in hospitality education, having served as professor of Hospitality Management at the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management, University of the Philippines, the country’s premiere university.

She is well recognized in the field of hospitality education, as proven by the numerous awards and achievements she has received, such as the Outstanding Alumni Award in Food Service, given by the University of the Philippines in 1993 and Outstanding Nutritionist Dietitian in 2002 by the Nutritionists Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines. She also served as President of the Asia Pacific Tourism Association in 2001.

She is a former member, technical panel and past president of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP).

TESDA Certification

AHA Philippines is certified by the Technical Education and Skills Authority (TESDA) of the Republic of the Philippines to offer courses on culinary arts with the following certification levels:

  • Commercial Cooking NC II, for the Diploma in Culinary Arts and the Diploma in Culinary Entrepreneurship
  • Commercial Cooking NC III, for the Associate Degree in International Culinary Arts
  • Commercial Cooking NC IV, for the Associate Degree in International Culinary Arts

AHA Philippines is the first to have been granted the Commercial Cooking IV certification for the Associate Degree in International Culinary Arts.
